Sam Blacklock, who is dealing with the large project on behalf of the family said-
We know and enjoy running Blacklock Carpets but now we feel its time in the companies' life to really stretch her legs and become part of the redevelopment that is inevitably going to sweep through our area.
The new store will be of high quality design and build, be an attractive and modern statement to Beestons retail facade, and then ultimately house, what I believe to be one of our areas most respected family business. We believe such a demonstration of committed investment by an independent retailer will maintain Beestons individual identy over large scale business redevelopments that is taking place and also be supported by custom, new and old.
The new site, 114 Station Road, Beeston, used to be, we are told, a bakers. But when we saw it, with its proximity to the town centre, it was ideal, with future ambitions for offsite warehousing close by. Although such redevelopments costs do not come without large company expenditure, we believe our company and the service provided by it, to be worth it. As for costs, the blacklock family wish this to remain a private issue.
Blacklock Carpets has come on a long way since it began 27 years ago on Chilwell Road, Beeston, by the late Roger Blacklock. After his death in 1996, the company, was retained through this difficult period, by his wife and sons who looked to encourage growth within the business and the scope for it to become what Roger had wanted. It started employing staff members to help them achieve this, and then in time, his daughter joined which has made the company even stronger and enabled it to focus on areas of growth, which were necessary. All of which now occupy key roles with the company and its future.
Thankyou
Sam Blacklock
